mVision Insight:

Barcode Image Decoding and Evaluation Tool

Insight is mVision’s evaluation application designed for Windows 2000 and Windows XP PCs equipped with an off-the-shelf Web camera.

The engineering Teams at mVision designed and developed Insight to be a flexible test harness, enabling the thorough and complete testing of our decoding algorithms. Over time, Insight has evolved into a commercial strength application that our partners can use to evaluate our products on their Windows-based PCs.

Insight offers our customers and partners first-hand experience with the speed and flexibility of the mVision product line. Using Insight, evaluators can:

  • Decode digital images taken using in-house cameras and imaging systems. This is an attractive alternative for OEMs developing cameras or choosing imaging sensors for a new device. Insight supports a wide variety of image formats including BMP, JPEG, and GIF.
  • Decode digital images in batch, either locally or across the network. Using Insight, our partners can simply point at a network share, click a button and perform extensive decoding and testing on a library of saved images. Results are compiled and presented in a high-level summary. In addition, Insight logs all decode attempts to a local SQL database, enabling query-based analyses of the results.
  • Decode images in real-time using an off-the-shelf Web camera. Simply plug an inexpensive Web camera into the PC, run Insight and voila – a real-time decoding experience using our state-of-the-art engine.
  • Test various decoder configurations using the intuitive graphical user interface (GUI).
  • Query and analyze results over time.

For deeper integration and testing purposes, your team can use Insight’s components to write its own decoding enabled applications. Please refer to our technical team for details.
